A Taste of Sónar
Last weekend, (5 and 6 March) Sónar presented another “A Taste of Sónar” in Camden’s Roundhouse, in London. It is a taster for Sónar 2010, which will take place between 17th and 19th June in Barcelona and A Coruña.
The two nights of pure Sónar style featured an intense small-scale festival experience, a taster with a total of 25 artists including two highly renowned names: the enigmatic North American producer and MC DOOM, in Europe for the first time, and the French artist Laurent Garnier.
The unannounced surprise show by 2manydjs was a treat for the audience on Saturday night. The Belgian duo, now lined up to appear at Sónar 2010 in both Barcelona and A Coruña, were part of a line-up that included other artists who will also be appearing at the festival, such as Matthew Herbert, Roska, Laurent Garnier, Hudson Mohawke, John Talabot and bRUNA.
This year, for the first time, Red Bull Music Academy programmed the Studio Theatre stage with a selection of this year’s participants in the Academy, which is based this year in London, rounding off an unprecedented selection of emerging talent from all over the world.
