Once upon a time, this show venue was a ballroom called The Carlton Dance Hall, built in 1904 by a philandering publisher who housed his mistress on the top floor. Bush Hall hosted concerts and dances right up until the second world war, after which it went through several transformations, from soup kitchen to bingo hall to snooker and social club.

Now the Hall is reliving its salad days thanks to its latest owners, who restored the original ballroom décor in 2001. Despite a seating capacity of only 350, it has hosted intimate gigs with the likes of Boy George, Scissor Sisters, Bat for Lashes, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave and R.E.M.Quote_transparent
